New Market Elementary – money for food allergies

nme1

Addison Reno’s little brother, Colin, can barely be near a peanut without a potentially dangerous allergic reaction.

When the two go to birthday parties, Colin, 3, has to pack food from home, and when it comes time to eat cake, he has to eat cupcakes brought from home. His sister eats the homemade cupcakes with Colin so that he doesn’t have to feel different from the other kids, according to their mother, Stacy Reno.

Addison, a third-grader at New Market Elementary School, wanted to find a way to raise awareness about food allergies, and after an impassioned plea to her principal, Jason Anderson, Addison convinced him that the school should do a Pajama Day fundraiser to help people like her brother.

Praying for a win!

caps

Hockey seems to be back in the Washington area.  I found myself yelling and screaming at my TV during the Rangers vs. Capitals  and now the Capitals vs. Penguins.

I keep hearing that no team has ever come back from being down so many games.  Some how,  some way, the Caps pulled it off beating the Rangers and advancing to the next round to face the Pittsburgh Penguins.

I will be holding on tonight as the Caps get ready for a must win against the Penguins.  The series is tied 3-3, with the Caps playing on home ice.  Rocking the Red will be present as all fans do during home games.  I think there is one thing left to say “Beat those Penguins and lets move on”.  Lord Stanley’s cup is calling and  is ready to come to Washington.

Frederick County’s teacher of the year!

New Market Elementary School third-grade teacher Catherine Alspaugh has been named Frederick County’s Teacher of the Year.  What a wonder honor to have such talent in our own back yard.  Congrats to Ms. Alspaugh and New Market Elementary school on this great accolade!
